High Voltage 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — uktw @ 9:47 am

For people of a certain age and disposition, like me, this has to be one of the great (quality/nostalgia) line-ups!

ZZ Top, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Heaven & Hell, Foreigner, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Black Label Society, Clutch, Asia, Marillion, Argent, Steve Hackett, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep, Reasoning, Touchstone, Pendragon

I was, and remain, an unashaed ELP fan (havin been a Nice fan prior to that) … tickets can be found through SeatChoice of course but that’s not really the point, the point is that this will be such a great weekend!

Dropped Kerb

Filed under: Uncategorized — uktw @ 6:36 pm

Now completed, a new dropped kerb outside our house – and very smart it is too. We should now at least be able to park! Of course I had to repaint the door to make that look smart and we have put some standard roses in new tubs … now we’ll have to repaint the stonework as we got it clean with the power washer but that revealed peeled paint … a never ending saga.

When I went to use the power washer I found that the outside tap wasn’t working and we only had it installed last April – turned out that the non-return valve had stuck closed … took it out, jabbed it with a pointed stick and all is well again!

Well, it finally arrived, the personalised watch ordered on 31st October last year as a Christmas present! So yes, it is going straight back and I really can’t see why they couldn’t have cancelled it back in December when we told them to as it would be too late. It takes longer to turn them than it does an oil tanker.

Mind you, had it been on time I would have sent it back anyway as the three letters if the personalisation didn’t even line up .. why do they bother.

Been Away

Filed under: Uncategorized — uktw @ 8:22 am

The lack of recent posts has been caused by us going on holiday!

Just before we went we were doing a play at The Blakehay, actually three short plays and some readings all under the title “Here Come the Girls” – one of three productions in the UK with that title at the moment (one of the otehrs was on at the Playhose at the same time!) … reasonable turn out.

We left straight from the last night to go to Gatwick and from there, after a flight delay, to el Gouna by the Red Sea for two weeks of sun and diving – well, for us mostly diving as we did 8 days (16 dives).

We got back last saturday morning at 3:30 … on Sunday we drove to Ilfracome to dive Lundy … the seals wouldn’t come in with us and it was a bit of a shock to the system to drop from 27 degree water to 15 and from 20 metre visability to 2 …. heh ho …

Almost there

Filed under: Uncategorized — uktw @ 9:39 am

Here’s the “nearly finished” works …

The Old Breakfast Room – not that many changes, more a paint and tart up. Extra lighting added in display cabinet and now used for display rather than as a dumping ground ;-) Chairs have been covered in a more appropriate fabric.

The Old Kitchen – major re-modelling, new boiler, range cooker, hood, fridge/freezer, combi-microwave, cabinets, … well, you get the picture. New lighting, new floor, pretty well new everything.

New Kitchen Bit – new sink etc …

WSM Update

The wheel opened yesterday and there were queues! Still are I think but I haven’t seen it today. At night it is lit up and can be seen from miles away … perhaps even Cardiff!

I think its great … can’t wait for my first “flight”!

Michael Jackson

Filed under: Uncategorized — uktw @ 10:00 am

michaeljackson09So, tickets start selling for Michael Jackson’s farewell tour .. and we have links to them here at SeatChoice. Actually, we’re in presales as sales really only start on friday .. but so far so expensive!

Prices on Ticketmaster are over £750 and GetMeIn is suggesting secondary prices of over £1,045 for some dates … viagogo is the “official secondary ticket partner” for these shows so we’ll see what they reveal …

Is any show really worth this? Probably “yes” to the right person … but please, please, please, try not to get ripped off – these tickets are expensive enough without falling for scams and steals. Buy ONLY from reputable agents however desparate you get …

dscf90821Despite the boiler failing and the cold water and cold house we had a good weekend. Darling daughter Diane came up thursday night with bridesmaids Laura and Vicki, Maid of Honour Philip and TWAT (The Wedding Arranging Team) members Karrie and Daryl ….

Friday we went to Posh-Nosh the caterers and were treated to some trully splendid samples of the food we’ll be having and Saturday to Rookery Manor for bridesmaid and wedding dress fittings …. very beautiful they looked too. Sunday was Cribbs Causeway for shoes and jewels …. tiring!
